A Pampanga lawmaker is pushing for a universal social pension of ₱2,000 per month for all Filipino senior citizens, regardless of income, civil status, health condition, or place of residence, through House Bill No. 5068.
Under the proposal, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will assist in establishing a comprehensive database of beneficiaries, while the Land Bank of the Philippines will manage the pension payout system. The bill also includes provisions for the automatic adjustment of the pension amount based on the Consumer Price Index, as determined by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
