Kapampangan global music icon Apl.de.Ap found peace in his Pampanga roots during the pandemic slowdown in his music career. Memories of his childhood—especially a mango tree where he would rest while helping his grandmother on their farm—became a source of comfort and reflection, inspiring him to reconnect with home and find grounding away from the spotlight.
Moved by these personal memories and his deep gratitude to the land, Apl.de.Ap launched an ambitious plan to plant 380 million trees across the Philippines, envisioned as the world’s largest reforestation initiative. The project supports local farmers and indigenous communities by providing seedlings of fruit-bearing trees and crops such as coffee and malunggay, creating sustainable “food forests” that restore the environment while offering additional livelihood through harvestable produce.
